Sprechen Teil 1 & 3
Selbstvorstellung und Fragen stellen
Goethe/telc Sprechen has three parts: Teil 1 (introduce yourself), Teil 2 (role-play, see Practice 1), and Teil 3 (ask your partner questions on a topic card). This page drills Teil 1 and Teil 3, bidirectionally. Cover the answer, produce your own translation first, then reveal.
Exam format: Teil 1 is scored on whether you can give the basics (name, age, country, city, languages, job/studies) fluently and unprompted. Teil 3 is scored on whether you can form natural questions on the spot from a topic word alone.
Teil 1: Selbstvorstellung (Deutsch → Englisch)
A model self-introduction, sentence by sentence.
1. "Ich heiße Anna und ich komme aus Polen."

My name is Anna and I come from Poland.
2. "Ich bin 29 Jahre alt und wohne seit drei Monaten in Berlin."

I'm 29 years old and I've been living in Berlin for three months.
3. "Ich spreche Polnisch, Englisch und ein bisschen Deutsch."

Teil 1: Self-introduction (Englisch → Deutsch)
A different self-introduction - produce the German yourself this time.
1. "My name is Tom and I come from Canada."

Teil 3: Fragen stellen - Thema "Freizeit" (Deutsch → Englisch)
Given only the topic word "Freizeit" (free time), a candidate must ask their partner questions. Translate each.
1. "Was machst du gern in deiner Freizeit?"

Teil 3: Asking questions - topic "Wohnung" (Englisch → Deutsch)
