Futur I

werden + infinitive. Used for predictions, promises, and assumptions - present tense still covers most everyday scheduled future talk.

Conjugation of werden

ich werdewir werden

Word order

werden takes the normal verb-second position; the infinitive goes to the end of the clause.

Ich werde das machen. (I will do that.)
Es wird morgen regnen. (It will rain tomorrow.)
Wirst du mitkommen? (Will you come along?)

When to prefer Futur I over present tense

PromiseIch werde dir helfen. (I will help you.)
PredictionDie Preise werden steigen. (Prices will rise.)
Assumption (with wohl)Er wird wohl noch schlafen. (He is probably still sleeping.)
Scheduled/fixed plan (present tense preferred)Ich fliege nächste Woche nach Berlin.
