Im Restaurant

Ordering food is a near-daily interaction once you're living in Germany, and it's a natural showcase for möchten (Lesson 11) and the food vocabulary from Lesson 12, now in a real conversational flow from being seated to paying.

Today's win: get seated, order food and drink, and ask for the bill - a complete restaurant interaction start to finish.

Getting seated

Haben Sie einen Tisch für zwei Personen? (Do you have a table for two?)
Die Speisekarte, bitte. (The menu, please.)

Ordering

Ich möchte die Suppe, bitte. (reusing möchten, Lesson 11)
Was empfehlen Sie? (What do you recommend?)
Ich nehme das Schnitzel. (I'll have/take the schnitzel - nehmen, a common alternative to möchten for ordering)

During the meal

Guten Appetit! (said before eating, by anyone at the table - not just the waiter)

Paying

Kann ich mit Karte zahlen? (Can I pay by card? - können, Lesson 11)
