Listening is the skill you cannot practise by reading, and the one that decides most A1-B1 results. Each item here is spoken aloud by your browser's German voice - the transcript stays hidden until the item is marked. In Prüfungsmodus playback is capped at the exam's real number of repeats; in Übungsmodus you can replay as often as you like and slow the voice down.

Start with numbers

Pick Zahlen & Preise and Uhrzeiten & Termine first. They are worth a disproportionate number of exam points and they fail for a mechanical reason, not a vocabulary one:

• Units before tens. dreiundachtzig is 83, not 38. You have to hold the first syllable and place it second.
• halb neun is 8.30, not 9.30 - German counts halfway to the hour.
• Prices come in pairs, codes come digit by digit. The rhythm tells you which you are hearing before the meaning does.

A note on the voice

This uses the browser's built-in speech, so it is clearer and more even than a real recording - no background noise, no overlap, no regional colour. Treat a good score here as necessary, not sufficient. When these feel easy, switch to real audio: the official Modellsatz recordings, Nachrichten leicht from DLF, or the Goethe listening samples.
